2025 JMI AI Product & Technology Roundtable: Turning Insight into Action in San Diego
Last week, more than 140 executives gathered in San Diego for the JMI AI Product & Technology Roundtable. This year’s event brought together CEOs and functional leaders from across the portfolio for two days of strategic discussion on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the modern software business, and how to lead their teams through the transformation.
The opening sessions delivered a clear message: AI adoption is no longer optional. To stay competitive, CEOs and their teams must treat it as a top organizational priority. As innovation accelerates, the way companies create, deliver, and protect value is being fundamentally redefined.
Setting the tone for the day, Melissa Perri—author of The Build Trap and Founder of The Product Institute—delivered a keynote urging leaders to rethink product strategy, organizational design, and value creation through the lens of AI. Her core message resonated: succeeding in this new competitive landscape is not just about building new AI features, it’s about reimagining what is fundamentally possible.
Attendees then broke into role-specific tracks designed to turn insight into action:
- CEOs explored how AI is redrawing the competitive landscape in B2B software, and why they must lead by example—embedding AI into their own workflows and appointing cross-functional leaders to guide transformation.
- Product & Engineering teams saw firsthand how the software development lifecycle (SDLC) is being reinvented with AI-powered automation.
- Payments and legal leaders tackled how AI is reshaping their functions, including workshops on AI-powered contracting and data privacy strategies.
The afternoon sessions focused on how AI is changing the nature of work. All roles will be impacted, and the winning companies will be those who adapt by rethinking team structures, investing in AI talent, and enabling employees to manage and collaborate effectively with intelligent systems.
To close the day, each functional group convened in “Next Step” workshops where participants worked to identify opportunity areas for highest impact and align on priorities for their teams. The day concluded with an informal cocktail hour, where attendees were able to continue exchanging ideas while strengthening new connections.
Thank you to all attendees, presenters and discussion leaders for making this year’s Roundtable a highly productive and engaging event. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a talented group of executives and industry thought leaders.
JMI’s next Roundtable will be held August 5-6 in Washington D.C., and will bring together HR, Talent, and People leaders for the 2025 JMI HR Roundtable.
