Three JMI Equity Partners Recognized Among GrowthCap’s Top 40 Under 40 Growth Investors of 2025
JMI Equity, a premier growth equity firm focused on investing in leading software and AI-driven businesses, announced that Partners Larry Contrella, Chase Thomet, and Mac Williams have been named to GrowthCap’s Top 40 Under 40 Growth Investors of 2025.
This prestigious recognition honors leaders who have made meaningful contributions to the evolution of growth equity. The 2025 honorees were selected from a highly competitive field of nominees and recognized for their investment acumen, ability to drive value creation within portfolio companies, collaborative approach, and leadership within their firms and the broader growth equity community.
Final selections were determined through a rigorous evaluation process that considered deal experience, portfolio impact, and professional leadership. Larry Contrella, a Partner at JMI Equity, leads both minority and majority investments in growth-stage software and AI-driven companies, forging trusted partnerships with founders, CEOs, and institutional investors to accelerate growth and create lasting value. He joined JMI in 2010 and currently serves as a director of Apptegy, Bloomerang, ChurnZero, GiveCampus, Incident IQ, RainFocus, and Raptor Technologies. Earlier in his career, Larry was an analyst in the multi-industries group in the investment banking division at Merrill Lynch & Co. He graduated from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics.
Chase Thomet, a Partner at JMI Equity, leads both minority and majority investments in growth-stage software and AI-driven businesses. He works closely with founders and management teams to accelerate sustainable growth and build long-term value. Since joining the firm in 2014, Chase has been involved in 13 investments, including current board roles at Greenlight Guru, SimpliGov, and Visiting Media and prior work with companies such as Arena, CompanyCam, Swiftly, SOCi, and Vena. Chase started his career in investment banking as a member of the technology M&A group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University with a BS in Commerce.
Mac Williams, a Partner at JMI Equity, leads both minority and majority investments in growth-stage software and AI-driven companies, forging trusted partnerships with founders, CEOs, and institutional investors to accelerate growth and create lasting value. He joined JMI in 2016 and currently is a director at First Due, OnBoard, and Raptor Technologies and works with JMI portfolio companies Apptegy, Higher Logic, and Ontic. Prior to JMI, Mac was an Analyst at Tiger Veda Management and an Associate at New Mountain Capital. He began his career as an M&A analyst at Lazard. Mac earned an AB from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, along with a Certificate in Finance.
